Caravan Print: A Journey of Tenacity and Empowerment

Caravan Print: A Journey of Tenacity and Empowerment

Allow me to take you on a remarkable journey – the journey of Caravan Print. My name is Okello Eliot Otwao, and alongside my friend Muzahura Evarist, we embarked on an entrepreneurial adventure that has exceeded our wildest dreams. Today, I proudly share the story of Caravan Print, a business born out of passion and determination, and our unwavering commitment to empowering fellow young entrepreneurs.

1. The Humble Beginnings:

In November of last year, Muzahura and I set out to make a mark in the custom-made and branded packaging industry. With sheer determination and limited resources, we started Caravan Print, primarily offering shredded paper and paper bags. We believed that high-quality products, exceptional service, and attention to detail would set us apart.

2. Overcoming Adversity:

Our journey as young entrepreneurs has been filled with challenges. Access to capital, fierce competition, and a saturated market tested our resolve. However, we refused to back down. We realized that adaptability and continuous learning were key to overcoming these obstacles. We sought innovative solutions while maintaining a deep-rooted belief in our vision.

3. Expanding Horizons:

To meet the diverse needs of our customers, we decided to expand our product line in February. We introduced custom-made gift boxes, adding an element of elegance to our range. This strategic move not only showcased our versatility but also opened new avenues for growth and increased our market reach.

4. Recognition and Milestones:

Caravan Print's commitment to excellence did not go unnoticed. Recently, we achieved a significant milestone by being recognized as one of the top four companies in the prestigious Stanbic National Schools Championship AlumGrow Category. This accolade not only validated our hard work but also fueled our determination to achieve even greater heights.

5. The Power of Empowerment:

As we reflect on our journey, Muzahura and I feel a deep sense of responsibility to empower fellow youngsters in their pursuit of success. We understand the challenges they face – limited resources, societal expectations, and a lack of guidance. Through Caravan Print, we aim to provide mentorship, support, and opportunities for growth to budding entrepreneurs. We believe that by fostering a nurturing environment, we can help shape a brighter future for our peers.

6. A Vision for the Future:

Our journey with Caravan Print has only just begun. We are committed to expanding our business, leveraging technology, and honing our craftsmanship to meet the evolving needs of our customers. We aspire to create job opportunities, promote sustainable practices, and make a lasting impact on our community.

The story of Caravan Print is rooted in resilience, determination, and the unwavering belief that our dreams can become a reality. As I share this journey with you, I hope it serves as a reminder that despite challenges, success is attainable. With passion

BLAQ HOLOGRAM 2nd ANNIVERSARY: Celebrating two years of growth

🌟 Presenting the BLAQ HOLOGRAM Journey: 🎵✨

Embark on an extraordinary journey that began at St. Henrys College Kitovu on July 17th, 2021, when we were in S5. I vividly recall a quiet Saturday morning, when a group of us left class and stumbled upon Freeman's notes and his precious lyrics book. Little did we know, this discovery would lead us to witness the birth of something truly remarkable.

Inspired by Freeman's undeniable talent, we joined forces and formed BLAQ HOLOGRAM, a music group that would set out to conquer the world. Freeman's catchy name choice perfectly encapsulated our proud African heritage, with "Blaq" representing our rich cultural roots, while "Hologram" added a touch of genius and intrigue. Together with Asingya Crispin as the vocalist and Godwin as the manager, our team was complete.

Our first-ever performance took place on a Sunday during mass, where we dared to share a gospel rap cover of "1000REASONS" by MAT REDMAN. Although our debut didn't go exactly as planned, we embraced the lessons learned from criticism and stage fright, pushing ourselves to improve. As fate would have it, the arrival of the pandemic forced us to retreat to our homes, giving us the opportunity to establish our presence on social media platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Audiomack, under the name BLAQ HOLOGRAM MUSIC.

Time flew by swiftly, and on November 4th, 2021, we proudly released our first song, "MY WAY," by Freeman, using the Bandlab mobile app. Although it garnered just 11 views in its first month on YouTube, the experience ignited our determination. We ventured into shooting a music video in the supermarket at the golf course, even though it didn't reach the internet due to the limitations of our mobile phone cameras.

Undeterred, we embarked on another project, "DIAMONDS BADLANDS," by Freeman and Larry the Stork, which resonated with many of our fans and reached 51 views within the first month. As we returned to school, we found ourselves performing more frequently during Sunday masses, gradually gaining recognition within our school community. By the end of that term, we had become influential figures, which led us to organize our very own concert at school, aptly named "WRAP UP."

"WRAP UP" attracted an attendance of 55 out of 156 people, each contributing a mere $0.5449. Held in s6B, the concert raised over $29 and served as a catalyst for meeting incredible artists such as Hermes Usheren, Promise Icon, St. Primo, Elton Paul, Goon Cyshan, and Freikn Robert, who later joined Blaq Hologram, transforming Us into a four-person group. With limited funds in hand, we seized the opportunity to launch a fashion label, BLQ HLGRM.1326, in partnership with GMT LEGACY, generating additional income that we wisely invested back into our music.

Inspired by our love for gospel music, we embarked on a new project called "YOU AND ME" featuring all the Blaq Hologram artists. We began performing this heartfelt song during various class masses, while also sharing our other tracks at the KADUCE GROUNDS (a popular entertainment area affectionately known as the Shack). This strategic move enhanced our marketing and broadcasting efforts, preparing us for a highly anticipated performance at SHACK DAY.

Sleepless nights filled with rehearsals in the chapel, laundries, Tree of Life, and Olympus paved the way for our moment at the SHACK DAY. However, to our disappointment, we were denied the opportunity to perform, forcing us to regroup and move forward.

Though healing from this setback was arduous, Freeman and Crispin resolved never to perform again at school. Yet, buoyed by the success of our initial "WRAP UP" concert, we made the bold decision to organize a second edition, spanning both the s2 and s5 classes. We embarked on a dorm-to-dorm marketing campaign, eagerly anticipating the day of the show.

The long-awaited evening arrived at 5:00 PM, and we headed to the s2 class, with the assistance of @LILBONZ. Hours ticked by, and by 9:00 PM, only a single attendee had mustered the courage to join us. The absence of others led to the unfortunate outcome of Godwin missing his art coursework submission.

Undeterred, we ventured to the s5 class, where neatly arranged chairs instilled a glimmer of hope that a captivated audience awaited. Alas, only two familiar faces, our friends from s6, Mayinja Julian and Sengonzi John, were present. With heavy hearts, we closed the room and returned to the dormitory. Unfortunately, that concert was our last hope for securing transport funds, as the next day marked the end of the term and necessitated a loan.

As the final term of high school arrived, we turned our focus toward our studies. Eventually, the day came when we bid farewell to our high school years. In a brief period, our expanding influence among teens caught the attention of NTV T.NATION by Star Ashley, leading to a feature opportunity. Leveraging our fashion brand, we utilized some of our savings to travel to Kampala, where our good friend Shaka Nathan graciously provided accommodation at Kaga Gardens for a week. We were interviewed and given the incredible chance to perform on stage before Crayon at the STAR FEST, a turning point that propelled our social media following to new heights.

Collaborating with international artists, including Prinz (UK), Termilosive (SA), Kazi Music (NY), Crook (Greece), and Verum (LA), has been an incredible honor. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who recognizes our potential, serving as a guiding light for budding talents. This is just the beginning—expect more awe-inspiring songs to be released. Our music is available on all major platforms.

We would like to express special thanks to GMT LEGACY, Centennials, Massive Records, Hug G Music, Larry the Stork, Star Ashley, Prinz Music, Kazi Music, and all the individuals who have supported us on this remarkable journey.

19... And Other Things By Kasura

19... And Other Things

For a day... just 24hrs

More or less

I'm a different Person

With the same thoughts...

I'm Grateful for those hours..

Because I know that is all I'll ever get..

So I milk them of their last drop...

Drink it all in..

Then pause..

And it's all gone...

Because I'll Forever only get those hours...

And those hours will be my forever..

Only for that moment...

Kasura

"The Dark Streets" by Mujuni Edgar

"The Dark Streets" by Mujuni Edgar

Tip-tap I walk down
in a path that once flourished with life,
hope, happiness, and oneness.
In two, with both of us blinded
by our own fairytale whispers.
A bauble was born
to fill each other's spaces
and with our souls washed with assurance
and zero impossibility,
of ignored insecurity.
All flourished like weeds in the wild.

As the lights that were once flecking out
became brighter with the growing rhythm.
At each other's chest pumps that increase frequency,
at each other's presence.
Under the bright light, a hand is held,
and a sensational stare is on the faces of two.
Walking down the street,
at this point, many stare with admiration,
And from a distance, they say:
"Awwwww...
I wish I was more like them."

And a dry whisper is let loose,
for it has the eyes of the road ahead.
"Be careful, don't lose yourself,
for the time may be wasted and never compensated."
But all is embraced with the power of time,
and reality is left on hold,
It may seem like jumping off a cliff
and landing on feathers in a huge basket.

In the mist, to find happiness,
speeches like these are usually held,
in fear not spoiling the moment
that fate has put together.
But beautiful as it may seem,
it comes with a price to pay.
A wind later sweeps the streets,
and what was later bright becomes dim.

And the hands are left loose,
as it gets darker,
a storm washes the earth,
pouring its tears down.
One is left standing alone under this rain.
"Please understand me, I want to be alone.
I can't do this anymore."
And what was a basket of feathers,
becomes the hard ground,
and reality unveils its truth.

I REMEMBER! By Sebastian

I Remember!

Do you remember,

That day when it was rumored

That his wealth and prosperity

Was a conduit to his death,

Death the leveler?

Do you recall that moment?

When he lay in his trench box bed,

Only waiting for delivery to his grave,

As his sons, daughters, and wife drew near

To drop earth on him with melancholy?

Do you,

Recall that very day

When all mankind murmured their plea,

"Thou' innocent, he has departed?"

A day when his bloody kinsmen,

The bloodthirsty son tiptoed

To drag the sword across

The widow's choking throat?

Do you

Remember the one moment

Of not requiem and nostalgic cause,

That saw him as a fulfillment

Of mortal oath?

Do you really

Endeavor to reflect

On that day when

The widow's in-laws scrambled

To have their brother's belongings

As consolation and comfort?

Do you imagine

The storm that was

A convoy for the couriers,

Stumbling hither and thither,

To rest him in tranquility?

Do you surely recall

The full day when

Foreign condolences

Were the Emcee,

Today's four-wheel?

Though you did nothing,

Do you remember?

Do you recall

The day when hypocrisy

Became the soothing lullaby

By the deceased's brothers

To their nieces and nephews,

Who then wriggled like maggots

On decomposing waste?

Do you make a recap?

Of that red day when

No hymn comforted

The widow,

And no literature read

For consolation?

He left but a father,

And yes, it is my last glance

At him that I remember

In distress!
