BLAQ HOLOGRAM 2nd ANNIVERSARY: Celebrating two years of growth

🌟 Presenting the BLAQ HOLOGRAM Journey: 🎵✨

Embark on an extraordinary journey that began at St. Henrys College Kitovu on July 17th, 2021, when we were in S5. I vividly recall a quiet Saturday morning, when a group of us left class and stumbled upon Freeman's notes and his precious lyrics book. Little did we know, this discovery would lead us to witness the birth of something truly remarkable.

Inspired by Freeman's undeniable talent, we joined forces and formed BLAQ HOLOGRAM, a music group that would set out to conquer the world. Freeman's catchy name choice perfectly encapsulated our proud African heritage, with "Blaq" representing our rich cultural roots, while "Hologram" added a touch of genius and intrigue. Together with Asingya Crispin as the vocalist and Godwin as the manager, our team was complete.

Our first-ever performance took place on a Sunday during mass, where we dared to share a gospel rap cover of "1000REASONS" by MAT REDMAN. Although our debut didn't go exactly as planned, we embraced the lessons learned from criticism and stage fright, pushing ourselves to improve. As fate would have it, the arrival of the pandemic forced us to retreat to our homes, giving us the opportunity to establish our presence on social media platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Audiomack, under the name BLAQ HOLOGRAM MUSIC.

Time flew by swiftly, and on November 4th, 2021, we proudly released our first song, "MY WAY," by Freeman, using the Bandlab mobile app. Although it garnered just 11 views in its first month on YouTube, the experience ignited our determination. We ventured into shooting a music video in the supermarket at the golf course, even though it didn't reach the internet due to the limitations of our mobile phone cameras.

Undeterred, we embarked on another project, "DIAMONDS BADLANDS," by Freeman and Larry the Stork, which resonated with many of our fans and reached 51 views within the first month. As we returned to school, we found ourselves performing more frequently during Sunday masses, gradually gaining recognition within our school community. By the end of that term, we had become influential figures, which led us to organize our very own concert at school, aptly named "WRAP UP."

"WRAP UP" attracted an attendance of 55 out of 156 people, each contributing a mere $0.5449. Held in s6B, the concert raised over $29 and served as a catalyst for meeting incredible artists such as Hermes Usheren, Promise Icon, St. Primo, Elton Paul, Goon Cyshan, and Freikn Robert, who later joined Blaq Hologram, transforming Us into a four-person group. With limited funds in hand, we seized the opportunity to launch a fashion label, BLQ HLGRM.1326, in partnership with GMT LEGACY, generating additional income that we wisely invested back into our music.

Inspired by our love for gospel music, we embarked on a new project called "YOU AND ME" featuring all the Blaq Hologram artists. We began performing this heartfelt song during various class masses, while also sharing our other tracks at the KADUCE GROUNDS (a popular entertainment area affectionately known as the Shack). This strategic move enhanced our marketing and broadcasting efforts, preparing us for a highly anticipated performance at SHACK DAY.

Sleepless nights filled with rehearsals in the chapel, laundries, Tree of Life, and Olympus paved the way for our moment at the SHACK DAY. However, to our disappointment, we were denied the opportunity to perform, forcing us to regroup and move forward.

Though healing from this setback was arduous, Freeman and Crispin resolved never to perform again at school. Yet, buoyed by the success of our initial "WRAP UP" concert, we made the bold decision to organize a second edition, spanning both the s2 and s5 classes. We embarked on a dorm-to-dorm marketing campaign, eagerly anticipating the day of the show.

The long-awaited evening arrived at 5:00 PM, and we headed to the s2 class, with the assistance of @LILBONZ. Hours ticked by, and by 9:00 PM, only a single attendee had mustered the courage to join us. The absence of others led to the unfortunate outcome of Godwin missing his art coursework submission.

Undeterred, we ventured to the s5 class, where neatly arranged chairs instilled a glimmer of hope that a captivated audience awaited. Alas, only two familiar faces, our friends from s6, Mayinja Julian and Sengonzi John, were present. With heavy hearts, we closed the room and returned to the dormitory. Unfortunately, that concert was our last hope for securing transport funds, as the next day marked the end of the term and necessitated a loan.

As the final term of high school arrived, we turned our focus toward our studies. Eventually, the day came when we bid farewell to our high school years. In a brief period, our expanding influence among teens caught the attention of NTV T.NATION by Star Ashley, leading to a feature opportunity. Leveraging our fashion brand, we utilized some of our savings to travel to Kampala, where our good friend Shaka Nathan graciously provided accommodation at Kaga Gardens for a week. We were interviewed and given the incredible chance to perform on stage before Crayon at the STAR FEST, a turning point that propelled our social media following to new heights.

Collaborating with international artists, including Prinz (UK), Termilosive (SA), Kazi Music (NY), Crook (Greece), and Verum (LA), has been an incredible honor. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who recognizes our potential, serving as a guiding light for budding talents. This is just the beginning—expect more awe-inspiring songs to be released. Our music is available on all major platforms.

We would like to express special thanks to GMT LEGACY, Centennials, Massive Records, Hug G Music, Larry the Stork, Star Ashley, Prinz Music, Kazi Music, and all the individuals who have supported us on this remarkable journey.
